In my second session as your State Delegate we

  • Passed/Implemented 75% of our bills proposed and co-sponsored

  • Implemented CDL licensing exams in Spanish

  • Acquired reading books for our PGCPS schools as part of $1 million grant to Our Kids Read, Inc.

  • Founded the Dream Big College Prep workshop

  • Opened 3 new schools out of the promised 9 - so that we now have 3 new open schools, 3 schools in the design phase, 1 new school for groundbreaking and 2 schools that are to be combined in the permit phase

  • Joined forces with Kingdom Fellowship AME and Sen. Malcolm Augustine to give away 1,000 chickens during the Thanksgiving holiday. Every school, municipality, senior home, civic association, and community center in District 47 received their share.

  • For the last two years, we are proud to have received a $25,000 grant each year from Latino Student Fund and Walmart to provide 1,400 uniforms, 3,400 book bags, and 3,500 pencils, glue sticks, and colored pencils for 15 schools in District 47 and District 2.

I am also proud and humbled to announce that I received a Lifetime Achievement Award from CAIR for my work advocating for immigrants (September 2023) and was the second proposer for Access to Care which successfully passed in the 2024 legislative session!

But there's still more work to do.

I AM COMMITTED TO WHAT WE STARTED!

We need a well funded campaign to ensure that we have the funds to continue to engage and help the community thrive.

Donate through Paypal or ActBlue to be able to help Maryland, Prince George’s County and, District 47B constituents. Checks may also be made out to Friends of Deni Taveras, and can be mailed to P.O. Box 1763, Hyattsville, MD 207822
