Deni is a passionate and strong advocate for social justice issues seeking to improve the lives of working families and diverse communities.  She has over 15 years of experience as a policy analyst within local, state and federal government, among other organizations, including working in Annapolis.

A Transformational Change Agent

During her tenure in County Council in District 2, she worked to increase county revenues from $3.3 billion to 4.6 billion, put more than 18 new schools in the pipeline for construction, 9 in District 2 alone, eliminating the over 50-year old school overcrowding problem. She worked for 7 years to revamp the over 50 year old zoning ordinance that culminated with a passage of the Countywide Map Amendment, forever changing the historic economic development trajectory of the county, and pushed for equity by establishing transformational programs that provide Universal Representation for immigrants in deportation (ISLA) and Language Access at County offices.

She strongly feels District 47B needs an engaged representative that residents know personally, and who is determined to fight to deliver on what she started, providing the community with better public schools and better school buildings, safer, cleaner streets and increased sustainable economic development.

Leading the Call for Unity

She has built strong coalitions and alliances in her community.  As President of her homeowner's association at Presidential Park, she lifted her community from near bankruptcy to the multimillion dollar business it is today (she has served for over 11 years as the President of her association and it is still an economically thriving, debt free community), improved public safety and increased property values.  She has also taught at the local juvenile jail and at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Building on the Foundation of Education

Deni holds a dual Master's in public affairs and urban regional planning from Princeton University, a Masters from University of Utah, and a Bachelors in chemistry from Barnard College, Columbia University, both in the area of chemistry.

Deni lives with her dog Lucky in Adelphi and is committed to working hard to make a better Prince George's county.
